I can't believe that it has taken THIS LONG for them to win their first award! The world owes so much to this band for their influence. (props to Q for giving such an appropriate award)
While the general public still returns the mention of Cocteau Twins with a questioned look, their fans hear the results of their influence everywhere. It is undeniable.

The Cocteau Twins music continues to exude True artistry and an absolute abandonment to authenticity in the creative process; (which published music greatly lacked at the time, other than a few select in the underground; and published music for the last decade, has been completely without)
Such awards are a long time coming but confirms their lack of necessity.

I bought every edition of Q in the late 80's and for most of the early 90's. They barely merited a mention in your magazine that was dominated by your 'pet bands' of the day...Only when they split up they got a three line paragraph...no interviews nada.
